About purchasing

Who can buy on the site fighum.com?

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can buy on this site. When making a purchase, it is assumed that the customer is aware of our terms and conditions.

How do I buy online?

Through our gallery, you will have access to the pages with drawings from the collection and here you can select and add to your shopping cart the products you want. Having checked the selected products and quantities in your shopping cart, you can then finalise your order. All you have to do is give us the information required for shipping and pick one of the payment methods available to you.

What forms of payment are available?

You can pay by:

a) Credit Card / PayPal - On choosing this payment method, you will be redirected to PayPal’s secure payment page, where you can immediately pay with your credit card, or enter your PayPal account to confirm payment.

b) Bank Transfer - On choosing this payment method, you will receive an email with all the details of your order and our bank details to make the transfer.

Please note that bank transfers will only be accepted if all bank charges are paid by the customer.

What currencies are accepted in payment?

Payments should be made in Euro (€). The product prices and the prices in the shopping cart are always shown in Euros, as well as in U.S. dollars ($) and GBP (£). Upon payment, the customer will know how much he will be paying in all of these three currencies, but the payment itself must be made in Euros.

The drawing I wanted to buy does not exist in my language. What can I do?

Write to us using the form alongside and tell us which version you would like to have. We will take note of this, and when it becomes available, you will be informed by e-mail.

I want to buy a drawing for a gift. Can I have it sent to another address?

Yes, the forms you fill in during the purchasing process (step 2) allow you to use a different shipping address.

Can I add a personal message to the drawing that I am going to offer?

Yes, in the purchase process you will come across a page where you can review your order (step 3) and where you can add a message with a maximum of 400 characters. Your text will be printed on a card that we will send with the drawings, at no extra cost. Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for the text you add to your order, we will not amend anything.

How are the drawings sent?

In order to be more cost effective, the drawings are sent by standard mail, wrapped in one or more cardboard tubes. However, if the order is composed of several tubes, they are sent separately, so they may not all arrive at once.

How long will I have to wait for my order?

You can expect up to a maximum of 8 working days in Europe and 10 working days outside Europe. Your order will be sent within 3 working days following the date of payment. To this you must add the standard mail delivery time: 5 working days for Europe and 7 working days for the rest of the world.

I made an order and it is late in arriving. What do I do?

If our deadlines have been exceeded, please write to us using the form alongside to solve the situation.

Can I return a drawing and get a refund?

Yes. Under the Portuguese law (Decree-Law 143/2001), consumers are entitled to return purchased goods and to receive a refund. Once payment is made, the consumer has 30 days in which to return the product.

How do I return a drawing and get a refund?

In accordance with our terms and conditions, the customer must notify us of their decision by e-mail to info@fighum.com within 30 days following the date of payment of the purchase, quoting the invoice number on the order. If the consumer so wishes, he may add the reason for his decision. The customer will then have 20 days following the communication of his withdrawal of purchase to return the product back to its origin, in good condition and along with the invoice. Once checked and if these terms have been met, a refund will be made within 10 days after reception of the product, and if so requested the consumer should provide the information necessary for sending money via the most economical means.

About the products

What precautions should I take with my drawing?

Remove the drawings from the tube carefully to avoid creasing or denting them. Stretch the drawings out on a table and use the kraft sheet that accompanies them to place weights on, which will help to straighten them out much more quickly. If you replace the drawings inside the tubes, use the plastic sleeve so as to make it easier to remove the drawing later on.

Warning: If you replace two or more drawings inside the tube without the plastic, they may stick due to the high friction between the interior walls of the tube and paper tension.

What products are available on this site?

Reproductions of caricatures from the collection are available in two sizes: the drawings original size, 50x50cm (19'7x19, 7 ") and a larger size, 80x80cm (31,5 x31, 5"). Printouts include biographies and citations of those portrayed.

See detailed information in the products section.

How can I increase the durability of the drawings?

Avoid touching the surface of the drawings, especially with fingernails or objects that may scratch them. Avoid exposing the drawings to direct sunlight, non exposure to ultraviolet radiation will prolong the life of the drawings. Framing them in glass will make them last longer as it protects them from pollution and direct contact. If the glass has a UV filter they will last even longer.

How are the original drawings made?

A number of successive drafts are produced for each figure, which evolve slowly, until one is considered good enough to serve as the foundation for the final picture. Once the sketch, composition and background shading are finished, the final drawing is done on a 50cm square sheet of a slightly grainy paper, with 6B graphite pencils.

See detailed information in the chapter how it's done.

How are the prints made?

The prints are made on Rag Photographique, a fine art paper produced entirely from cotton fibres and designed by Canson-Infinity for museums and galleries. We use the latest version of the Lucia 12 ink colour range, developed for Canon photo printers.
